BOE CANDIDATE 101 INFORMATION SESSION

Are you interested in serving your community as a Hillsboro R-III School Board member? Join us for an informative School Board 101 Candidate Session on Tuesday, December 10, at 6 p.m. at the Hillsboro Administration Office, located at 100 Leon Hall Parkway, Hillsboro, Missouri.

This session provides a comprehensive look into the responsibilities and commitments that come with board service. Topics include:

  • Role and Responsibilities

    : Understand the expectations of board members, from championing public education to serving every student.

  • Commitment Overview

    : Learn about preparation, meeting attendance, and engaging with district and community events.

  • Mandatory Training

    : Review the 18 ½ hours of training required during the first year of service.

  • Governance Teamwork

    : Gain insights into collective authority and the importance of working as a cohesive governance team.

  • Public Scrutiny

    : Tips on managing visibility and accountability effectively.

  • Campaign Basics

    : Guidance on campaign materials, forming a candidate committee, and the "Paid for by..." statement.
